Welcome to St Mary of Egypt Orthodox Church

St Mary of Egypt Orthodox Church is a welcoming and Christ-centred community where people of all backgrounds can grow in faith, love, and purpose.

With deep roots in the ancient Orthodox traditions brought to Egypt by St Mark the Evangelist, we promote spiritual growth through regular services, authentic teaching, fellowship opportunities and community outreach programs that connect our diverse community.

Join us! Our Regular Weekly Events:

Liturgy

Sunday 9:00am (8:30am for Matins)

Join us every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. for the Divine Liturgy, prayed entirely in English.

Rooted in the ancient traditions of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the Liturgy follows the Rite of St Basil and includes thanksgiving prayers, readings from the Epistles and Gospels, a sermon, and Holy Communion. This sacred service invites all to experience the beauty and depth of Orthodox worship as handed down from the time of the Apostles.

Foundations

Sunday 11:30am

New to the Orthodox Church? Foundations is a great place to start. Held every Sunday at 11:30 a.m., this service is accessible for first-time visitors and regular comers alike.

After the Liturgy, you’ll have time to enjoy coffee, a bite to eat, and connect with others before we begin. During Foundations, we also run an engaging Sunday School service for children.

Sunday School

Sunday 11:30am

Our engaging Sunday School program runs every Sunday at 11:15 a.m. for children from pre-school through to high school.

It’s designed to inspire young hearts to grow in their love for Jesus Christ and discover God’s purpose for their lives through a personal faith and a life-giving connection with the Orthodox Church.

Bible Study

Wednesday 7:30pm

Covering one chapter per week, we read, analyse, and understand the meaning and context behind the teachings of the Bible, through both a modern academic and historical lens, as well as a spiritual one as guided by the contemplations from our historic church fathers.

Youth Meeting

Friday 7:30 pm

Join us every Friday night at 8:00 pm for our Youth Meeting! Come together in fellowship to enjoy a spiritually enriching talk that speaks to the heart, followed by great food and even better company. All youth are welcome – bring a friend and be part of a community growing in faith and love.

We walk the timeless way, preserving the unbroken tradition handed down from Christ through the Apostles, the Church Fathers, and St Mark the Evangelist. We offer the fullness of this ancient faith in its original beauty and truth, while praying all services completely in English.

Worship That Transcends Time

Our liturgy connects heaven and earth, inviting all into the mystery of God’s presence through reverent and transformative worship, deeply rooted in sacred tradition.

Formation for the Whole Person

We nurture minds and hearts through teaching, prayer, and discipleship — equipping all ages to live out their faith with integrity, courage, and joy in everyday life.

A Mission of Hope and Healing

Inspired by Christ’s command to go to all nations, we share the good news of salvation with humility and grace, bringing hope, healing, and light to our communities.

Welcoming to All People

We are a family in Christ, embracing every person with warmth, hospitality, and compassion. We build relationships that reflect the love of God in a diverse and modern Australian society.
